20mph in Waltham Forest

20mph will help make local streets safe and pleasant for everyone who lives here, and will also improve conditions for cycling.

The council is committed to making all residential streets in Waltham forest 20mph and have already implemented 20mph south of the North Circular. South Chingford (as far as New Road) and Highams Park are next.

Do people drive too fast on your street?

If people are driving too fast or measures are needed to allow people to cross safely, the council may be able to install traffic calming or a pedestrian crossing. You can flag up problem roads for review using their on-line form here:

The council may also be able to paint additional 20mph ’roundels’ on the road (like those shown in the photo below) to remind drivers that they are in a 20mph area.
