It’s Bike Week!

Cyclist Tea 10th of June
We will be kicking off on the eve of the week on Friday the 10th of June with a cyclist tea on Coppermill Lane between 5pm and 7pm. So if you ride home across the marshes or want to take a little detour we will be serving up free tea, cake and chat. Plus we have the excellent Margaret, of Sick Bike Repairs, providing Dr Bike services from her mobile repair shop.

Walthamstow Family Bike ClubSunday 12 June
Walthamstow Family Bike Ride
A relaxed and enjoyable afternoon travelling by bicycle and exploring the nooks and crannies in and around our borough. Frisbees sometimes materialise when we hit a suitable open space.
We aim to stop off at a cafe at about half time, but we recommend you bring a snack and some water.
Meet at 1pm at the Orford Road/Church Lane junction, E17 9RW, next to the old postbox opposite the Ancient House … see the map.

Bridget’s Bike Week Evening Ride

Join Bridget for a 6.30pm start outside Walthamstow Library for an hour or so of riding around the borough.

Saturday 18 June
Ahead Charity Bike Ride & Walk
Please join us at our annual summer event to raise funds to build a hostel for disadvantaged girls in Ethiopia, who otherwise would be unable to attend secondary school.
Enjoy a great day out across the new and old of North East London; keep fit, and support a great cause.
Starting Point: Elmfield Road Green, Walthamstow, London E17 7HJ
Start Time: 09:30hrs
Cycle Route: A circular route cross Walthamstow, Leyton and Hackney Marshes into the Queen
Elizabeth Olympic Park; then through Victoria and Mile End Park before returning. The route is a quiet traffic free ride on flat cycle paths with no motorised traffic. Suitable for all ages and abilities

Saturday 18 June
WFCycling Green Open Homes Bike Ride
Join David for the tour of Green Open Homes in Waltham Forest, where eco-minded residents open their doors to share their ideas and successes in making their homes more sustainable, less energy-hungry, and generally less of a burden on the environment and the pocket.
Meet at 10:45 am at the Hornbeam Centre (458 Hoe St, London E17 9AH) for 11am departure.

Join Dwight for another tour of Green Open Homes!

Sunday 19 June – 11am, Walthamstow Library
Take the Peaceful Route with Nic

Meet from about 10.30 for an 11 o’clock start outside Walthamstow Library / Farmers’ Market.
Join Nic for the peaceful ride over mixed surfaces (be ready for a bit of mud!). The destination and direction of the ride will be discussed at the start and will account for wind speed and direction and may be train-assisted – so take your Oyster or contactless debit card with you.

2016 TdWFSunday 19 June
Tour de Waltham Forest 12-5pm

#TdWF is back and so are Bronze, Silver and Gold bike rides, as well as a geocache walk:
12pm – Gold Route (c. 40km)
1pm – Silver Route (c. 13km)
3pm – Bronze Route (c. 8km)

Kids’ Obstacle Course with British Cycling
Peddle My Wheels Pop-up Bike Market from  1-6pm, your chance to buy or sell a bicycle.

Please note there will be no Newcomers Ride this month, but do join us for one of the TdWF rides!

Monday 20 June
Breeze road ride
Meet Margaret, of Sick Bike Repairs, at 9.30am outside The Castle, 393 – 395 High Road, Woodford IG8 0XG.
This ride will be on the roads around the Essex countryside and will be approx 45-50 miles, the route will be adjusted to take account of conditions on the day.  The pace will be brisk, 12-14 mph.

Tuesday 21 June
Bridget’s Evening Ride

Join Bridget for a 6.30pm start outside Walthamstow Library for an hour or so of riding around the borough.

Friday 24 June
Critical Mass

Come to Belvedere Road in the Southbank by 7:30pm to join this energising bike party if you’re already in Central London, or else meet Nic outside Walthamstow Library by 6pm to ride there together.

Sunday 26 June
WFCycling Monthly ride
Ideas always abound, including options to account for weather. In case we use the train have your Oyster or contactless debit card with you!
Meet at 10.15 outside Walthamstow Library, for a departure by 10.30. We are usually back by 3-4pm.


Sunday 3 July
Kiddical Mass comes to Walthamstow!

Join us on a short cycle tour through our new, safe & people-friendly residential streets to picnic & play in Lloyd Park.
Meet 2pm at the Village Square (at the Eden Road/Orford Road junction)
Meet 4pm at Lloyd Park cafe for the return trip to Village Square.
All welcome, especially families with young children.
